Executive Board Positions
President
The President generally oversees on all events and positions, coordinating meetings and ensuring everything is on track. They delegate the necessary tasks and deadlines for each executive board member while also helping members take initiatives on new projects. This position works closely with the Senior Advisor, Vice Presidents, and Marketing Director to approve of materials and finalize decisions. The President also often acts as the primary representative of ASU in relation to other organizations.
Senior Advisor
The Senior Advisor acts as another overseer of the executive board as well as a mentor for all members, assisting them in their roles and responsibilities as well as keeping a close eye to any details that may fall through the cracks. This position works closely with the President, Vice Presidents, and Marketing Director to help guide meetings and make executive decisions. The Senior Advisor also partners with the Secretary and Treasurer to coordinate event logistics and maintain communication channels with general members and other organizations.
Vice President of Internal Affairs
The Vice President of Internal Affairs helps maintain a lively and cohesive dynamic within the ASU E-Board by promoting a culture of positivity and professionalism in order to ensure that members are passionate and motivated in their roles. This position is in charge of managing executive board bonding opportunities as well as internal events, transitioning of roles, and communications.
Vice President of External Affairs
The Vice President of External Affairs is the primary connection between ASU and other organizations, both collegiate and otherwise. The position is responsible for managing ASU’s emails and other communications, collaborative events, sponsorships, and external roles. This role ultimately leads the search for new and exciting ways to extend the reach of ASU.
Marketing Director
The Marketing Director generates online and offline strategies for growing the ASU community throughout Boston University and beyond. Working alongside the Public Relations Chairs and the Graphic Design Chair, the Marketing Director maintains the ASU website, helps develop PR and social justice campaigns relevant to the Asian community, sends out ASU’s weekly newsletter, and generates methods for increasing engagement with ASU.
Treasurer
The Treasurer controls all things relating to ASU’s finances, overseeing and leading fundraisers, Allocation Board forms, reimbursements, and paperwork. The Treasurer also is in charge of fully understanding and managing ASU’s account to determine prices and budgets for events, as well as keeping track of deadlines.
Secretary
The Secretary is responsible for most administrative duties, including taking detailed notes at meetings, creating sign up forms, and managing our email communications with our general members. The Secretary also maintains close contact with the Student Activities Office, completing all necessary paperwork and attending all meetings relevant to event-planning.
Graphic Design Chair
The Graphic Design Chair works with the Marketing Director and Public Relations to create graphics and promotional materials for ASU events, social media, PR campaigns, and flyers. With art, design, and video-making experience, the Graphic Design Chair generates all visual content for online media as well as on-campus platforms.
Public Relations Chair
The Public Relations Chairs maintain ASU’s social media presence across Facebook and Instagram as well as emerging platforms such as TikTok. They promote PR and social justice campaigns, create publicity schedules for all executive board members to promote ASU events, and develop strategies to increase ASU’s brand and event awareness.
Social Justice Chairs
The Social Justice Chairs work to bring light to social justice issues by spearheading social justice and/or cultural awareness initiatives for the organization and leading events pertaining to activism. They are in charge of collecting and sharing social justice resources as well as attending and encouraging all executive board and general members to participate in on-campus social justice events and discussions as a representative of ASU.
Community Service Chair
The Community Service Chair is responsible for creating and maintaining ongoing community service partnerships between ASU and Asian/Asian American service-oriented organizations in and around the Greater Boston area. This position also connects ASU members with resources as well as one-time or recurring on-campus and off-campus volunteer opportunities, such as the annual Chinatown Clean Up.
Digital Media Chair
The Digital Media Chair leads video and photo content creation for ASU's marketing and community-building purposes. This looks like creating fun short-form videos, documenting our events, and coming up with or collaborating with other members to execute digital media initiatives.
Class Representatives
The Freshmen, Sophomore, and Upperclassmen Representatives welcome, engage, and stimulate interest from Boston University students to the organization. They maintain an inclusive, open, and friendly atmosphere by curating bonding events and outings for general members. Their work includes advocating and informing fellow members about the organization and all that it entails. Additionally, the Upperclassmen Representatives reach out to and maintain relationships with ASU alumni.
